recipes of the Sabina

The Sabina region has a rich culinary heritage, and has been famous since ancient times for the quality of its food and drink, in particular its olive oil, one of the best in the world.

Other local products include cheese, meat, honey, fungi andfruit fruit. Their high quality is thanks to a way of working the land which has resisted industrialization; older, more environmentally friendly methods continue to be used here simply because they work well.

You can sample some of these products, and many others, in local restaurants. In our restaurant guide you will find a selection for all tastes and budgets.

The region has many local specialities, one good way tocheese discover some of them is to visit the many 'sagre' -village festivals where a particular dish is celebrated, along with wine and music. Or else you could try one of our traditional local recipes in the comfort of your own home.
