Brief
historical background of Roccasinibalda:  The
first documentary evidence for the existence of Roccasinibalda appears in
1084, which shows it to be in the posession of the Sinebaldo family.
Having passed through the hands of the Abbey of Farfa followed by various
noble families of Rome, it was donated, in 1526, by Pope Clement VII to
Cardinal Alessandro Cesarini. It was Cesarini and his sucessors who
transformed the original castle into the imposing fortress and residential
palace that we see today, designed by the Sienese military archiect, Baldassarre
Peruzzi. |
